UK Reaffirms Ukraine Support After Russian Strikes
Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office said he held a virtual meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which he conveyed that the thoughts of the UK were with Ukraine in the wake of the strikes.
“The UK stood four-square behind Ukraine and would work in lockstep alongside President Zelenskyy and international partners to secure a just and lasting peace for the Ukrainian people,” Starmer said.
The two leaders also discussed new UK sanctions imposed on Russia and welcomed increased international pressure on the Kremlin.
The statement came shortly after the UK summoned the Russian envoy over continued strikes on Ukraine and alleged violations of NATO airspace, following reports that a drone struck a residential building in Romania last week.
